Senator Avella Announces Analysis of Official Data Proving Significant
Noise Impacts on Community from LaGuardia Air Traffic
Queens, NY – Tomorrow, August 30th at 11:00 AM, State Senator Tony Avella will stand with members of Queens Quiet Skies to present findings from Freedom of Information requests to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding LaGuardia Airport runway and flight pattern usage data. Analysis of this data by Queens Quiet Skies illustrates what Senator Avella and members of the community have long known – airplane noise has increased at unprecedented levels over the past decade as a result of changes in runway usage and flight patterns over the last several years.
This sobering analysis will underscore Avella’s call for the completed formation of the New York Community Aviation Roundtable so that coordinated and influential dialogue between the community and the Port Authority and the FAA can finally begin.
